Passenger excursions on the Finger Lakes Railway began in October 2001, using two coaches painted in the livery of the Finger Lakes Scenic Railway. The coaches were originally purchased from VIA Rail and, after a lengthy delay at the border, arrived in late 1999 at Geneva.

Excursions are sponsored by local organizations and operated by Finger Lakes Scenic Railway staff from the yard in Geneva, through Waterloo and Seneca Falls, across the Cayuga Lake Causeway, and returning from the Cayuga station.
